How I Built a Problem-First Demo and Follow-Up Process
The Client
Tender247 is a platform that helps businesses discover and track government and private tenders. Its customers are companies that bid on tenders and need to find the right opportunities on time.
The Problems
- Many prospects already tracked tenders manually, so a new tool felt unnecessary.
- Feature-heavy demos did not connect to what each client cared about.
- There was no single process from first contact to demo, so leads and follow-ups could slip.
- Buyers needed proof that the platform would save them time or help them win bids.
- Existing clients needed regular attention to generate referrals and repeat business.
What I Did
1. Problem-First Demos
Before each demo, I asked how the prospect found and tracked tenders and where they lost time or missed opportunities. Then I showed only the features that solved those problems and explained how the product served their target market.
2. Handling Concerns and Building Trust
I treated objections as information, not pushback. I listened to concerns about price, switching effort and results, then answered with relevant examples and clear next steps over email and calls.
3. Cold Calling with Value-Based Positioning
I led conversations with the value the platform delivers instead of a feature list, which reached a 2.5% response rate on cold calls.
4. A Lead-Tracking System
I set up one process to find new prospects, reach out, book demos, follow up on a schedule and track each lead by stage.
5. Keeping Existing Clients
I stayed in regular contact through follow-ups and check-ins to keep trust strong and open the door to referrals and repeat business.
Final Results
- 2.5% response rate on cold calls using value-based positioning
- Existing client relationships maintained for referrals and repeat business
- A repeatable lead-tracking process built on CRM and Google Sheets
How to Build Your Own Sales Process
Understand the client’s problem before you show the product. Show only what solves that problem. Track every lead in one place so nothing is lost.
